The setup at Tlopi camp is like a postcard - ideal, picturesque and fully equipped. Just beware of the vervet Monkeys - they are very scaly and quick! Also be warned that the wind can blow so hard in/against/through the luxury tent at night, that we struggled to sleep without earplugs. Overall it was a wonderful, beautiful and tranquil experience! It was one of the longest periods of consecutive days of rain on record (14) and measurable rain fell nearly every day from 1/2 to 1/19. On this day extensive runoff from 24 hours of heavy rain caused havoc from the coast to the deserts. A bridge over the San Gorgonio River was destroyed near Banning and a dike failure near Whitewater flooded several area roads with mud and debris. Rising waters around the city of Desert Hot Springs cut off roadways leaving the city isolated. In the Inland Empire, the Santa Ana River spilled its banks, inundated parts of Norco and the Corona Municipal Airport. 1975: Destructive wind storm hit the Kern deserts, with a 108 mph gust reported in Ridgecrest. Two mobile homes were destroyed, five others were knocked off their foundations, wrecked 3 tied-down aircraft, uprooted trees and blew down power lines. 1947: Coldest high ever in Bakersfield in the month of January, 36° F. 1937: The morning low at Boca (near Truckee), was -40° F, and at Truckee it was -26° F. The low temperature of -50° F at San Jacinto is still the all-time record low temperature for Nevada.
The annual CPI figure climbed to 4. 2% in April, the sharpest climb since September 2008, as the U. economic recovery kicked into gear and energy prices jumped higher. May's release is expected to show another substantial increase, up 4. 7% on the year. U. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen added another talking point over the weekend when she said that President Joe Biden's $4 trillion spending plan would be good for the U. S., even if it contributes to rising inflation and results in higher interest rates. "We've been fighting inflation that's too low and interest rates that are too low now for a decade, " Yellen said, in an interview with Bloomberg News. "We want them to go back to" a normal interest rate environment, "and if this helps a little bit to alleviate things then that's not a bad thing - that's a good thing. " The inflation reading is one of the last major pieces of economic data ahead of the next Fed meeting on June 15-16 and Fed officials will be in their traditional blackout period during the coming week ahead of that meeting.

They're all mechanical in the end. If you're going to be in the cold I'd recommend a recently serviced camera in good working order. Failing that something with loser mechanical tolerances like a camera out of the FSU. If the camera is in good working order the main problem will be batteries. They die really fast in the cold. Bring extras. Weather sealing didn't become a marketing gimmick until well into the film era so you won't see it in most bodies prior to the '90s. Most cameras can handle some amount of moisture like mild rain showers and such without issue; just don't let moisture linger on them when done with your shoot, give them a wipe off. Anecdotally I took my Nikon F80 all over Niagara Falls. The base of the falls, the tunnels, on the boat, etc... and it got absolutely drenched. There was water in the viewfinder assembly and water would drip out the back when I opened it to change rolls. Wiped it down at the hotel, took the lens off, opened the back and hung it over the heater like a pair of wet socks.
